Respond rather than React

It's all in the pause.

One calming mindful breath in, followed by a releasing breath out and we can respond to anything from a more connected, compassionate place.

This is always true, in absolutely every situation. There is always time to breathe.

If we give our self time to breathe we give those we are interacting with time too. I am always open to being surprised by what happens in the pause. How the individual I am interacting with finds their way, finds there voice, recognises and repairs.

In that pause, we likely quickly find ourselves moving from consciously waiting to respond to holding the space with curiosity. It's true for both ourselves and those we are with, when we hold the space we allow time for the internal processing and noticing, the thinking.

Sometimes we use the pause to move from our minds and thoughts to our body. To ground ourselves.

Enjoy those moments of shared connection felt in the quiet pause between, before and following interactions. They can guide us to interact on another level. A quieter, deeper more authentic level.
